Captain America: Civil War is the best Marvel movie to date. Actually, it’s arguably one of the best superhero movies to date. It features a bigger superhero cast than the first Avengers movie yet manages excellent balance. The Russo brothers surpass even Whedon’s skills when it comes to ensemble movies. This is the movie that Batman v Superman wishes it was.
This film has all the feels, highs and lows, great action and set pieces, and above all it manages to give real weight to the inter-hero conflict – it’s not at all contrived like BvS.
They do throw A LOT at you, but at least on my first viewing it wasn’t overwhelming. At first I thought Spider-man would steal the show, and he does; but everyone has their show-stealing moments.
Extremely well-crafted film. Can’t wait to see it again.
